Creation of product assembly drawings and documentation for product transfer to contract manufacturing.

Mechanical Designer: September 2002 – November 2005
Mechanical design of lasers and laser manufacturing tooling.
	Including thermal matching materials and thermal heat sinking of lasers.
	Sheet metal experience with laser enclosures, EMI shields, and rack faceplates
Worked directly with machine shops to quote on parts, optimizing designs for shop specific manufacturability.
Creation and maintenance of company wide CAD (Solid Edge v12-v17) templates, macros, and parts library.  Also responsible for CAD documentation control.
Complete Documentation of all aspects of product and tooling designs including as listed above.
Worked with process engineers to develop processes and tooling for precision manufacturing.  This included producing devices myself in order to better develop the tooling.
Experience with high accuracy jig design where components are repeatedly placed within a 25 um (0.001”) tolerance zone.
Experience working with process and reliability groups to evaluate tooling performance.
Experience with quality assurance with inspection of incoming and outgoing product.

 JDS Uniphase Corporation
Mechanical Designer; January 2001 – September 2002
Mechanical designer of tooling for assembling MEMS based telecommunication equipment.
Designed production safety equipment accepted and implemented by company EH&S.
Produced reports of tolerance analysis of product components and their relation to production tooling.  Made appropriate corrections to optical component drawings and tooling design to ensure manufacturing tolerances are met.
Worked with process engineers to develop processes and tooling for manufacturing.
Maintained Open P.O. arrangements with machine shops, and worked with shops to optimize designs for their manufacturing equipment.
Full Documentation of all aspects of jig designs as listed above.

Product Engineer; January 2000 – January 2001
Successful creation of production work cells, including hardware, software, and operator training, to trial new process techniques.
Maintenance of production equipment and software to ensure production volume, quality, and yield meet department goals.
Development of custom processes for custom devices.
Creation of production paperwork including instructions, process documents, and travelers.  
Assisted with automation of production paperwork using computers and barcode scanners.
Training of production personnel on new equipment, processes, and production of devices.
Identified sources of yield failure in production and carried out effective solutions.
